Our core business strategy is design and build of high-quality overcladding solutions, however we also have experience of tower development.
In 2003 we purchased an empty, multi-unit residential building from Walsall Council in the Midlands, UK – it had become uneconomic to operate and had reached the end of its useful life. Our commercial approach to the project included complete internal refurbishment, high-quality aluminium overcladding with integral high-performance windows and the addition of steel-framed and glazed penthouses to complement the proposed contemporary appearance and make good use of the available roof space. All work was carried out to the UK’s National House Building Council’s standards ahead of re-sale to the open market and the entire project was completed within 50 weeks.
This development remains an excellent example of what may be achieved with ageing building stock.
- 40% return on investment
- Full occupancy upon completion
- Rental income increased by 80%
- Energy consumption reduced by 70% per annum
We opted for a high-quality approach in favour of alternative, lower-cost options to ensure long-term desirability and minimise whole-life costs. The project exemplifies the economic benefits that such an approach delivers to building owners as well as fully addressing issues of social and environmental sutainability.
