NON-COMBUSTIBLE

Overcladding of existing Further Education College (three storey and single storey)  incorporating Aluminium rainscreen cladding, new timber aluminium composite windows  and curtain wall screens all carried out during full occupancy of the college and without interruption of normal term time activities.

The original architectural feature was incorporated into the new facade design.

  • Capital payback in c.10 years from savings in heating energy alone
  • Close collaboration ensured project progressed whilst the building was fully occupied with minimal disruption to students and staff.

“Over cladding of the Pendleton “Old Block” to address the poor condition of the existing concrete façade and windows, to improve thermal efficiency and reduce energy use and carbon footprint, was a key strategic priorities for works under the Capital Transformation Fund here at Salford City College (SCC) Group;

These works are now complete, and having worked under full occupation with no disruptions during normal college business, design build facades have transformed the college; in that

  • the aesthetic betterment here at Pendleton, is head-turning
  • energy Efficiency Savings are 10fold, and
  • we have achieved Major Reductions in Carbon Emissions as part of achieving Net Zero”
