HEXAGON TOWER, MANCHESTER, WINNER – FACADE AWARDS UK, BEST USE OF A RAINSCREEN SYSTEM USING ALUMINIUM

“Our judges were wowed by the amazing design and quality installation replicating the existing concrete shapes at Hexagon Tower. The complexity of shapes and angles was strongly acknowledged, which, together with high rise access challenges, went to demonstrate the high-level workmanship towards this project.”

Cliff Woodhouse, Business Development Director at design build facades, attended the event in Manchester with the team from Gilmours, Sara from Corstorphine & Wright Architects and Victoria Watts from United Anodisers. He commented, “Winning this prestigious award is testament to the specialist skills and innovation of our dedicated team. We are thrilled that our expertise has been recognised against such strong competition.”

Owned by The Pioneer Group, Hexagon Tower is an iconic tower block built in 1973, housing science and technology businesses. The challenging refurbishment project required close collaboration between Architects Corstorphine & Wright, the client team, design build facades and panel manufacturer George Gilmour (Metals), in order to deliver a project that fully respected the original design intent of leading modernist architect Richard Seifert.
